RE: Parental Rights/Child's Records

Dear Honorable Broward Legislator:

An important bill has been sponsored in the Senate by Walter Campbell, Jr., and has been recently filed (SB 0098). On the House side, a similar bill has been filed (HB 0215) by Representative Joyce Cusack.

This is a short bill and clearly addresses the problem of "non-residential" divorced and unwed parents that are being denied in-person communications with their child's medical, dental, and education providers. This bill squarely addresses parental involvement of "non-residential" divorced and unwed parents in their child's life.

The membership of Dads Against Discrimination of Florida, Inc., would appreciate if you would take the time to peruse this bill, and add your name to the other co-sponsors. Our membership strongly favors the passage of this legislation. Children of divorced or unwed parents, need both their parents to have unfettered access to their child's medical, dental, and education providers.

he legislature needs to take decisive action on this legislation, to ensure that both of their parents shall be involved in their lives, without being undermined by educational or medical providers.

ny suggestions to improve this legislation should be addressed to: Mr. Michael Dolce, legislative assistant to Senator Campbell; or Nikole Sauder-Schale, legislative assistant to Representative Cusack.

I would also appreciate hearing your comments. I can be contacted at the above address or e-mail.

Most Respectfully Yours,

(your Name here)
