WSVN channel seven for the Miami-Fort Lauderdale-Palm Beach and Florida Keys, interviewed Dads member Tony Spalding for their parent to parent segment. Issues were about shared parenting time and information flow between parents. once again response to the airing was positive.

Dads member Ira Teller, Bob and Jean Bettellie were interviewed by the Sun-sentential newspaper about the Dads group and issues facing Divorced and separated fathers. The article ran and received excellent responses from the public!

Update! Thanks to all the people who donated items to this cause! We have raised a substantial amount of money for our organization. This endeavor will help ensure our continuing efforts to correct the legal issues that children and parents of separation are facing.

Update! This went very well! We ended up on the Davie BLVD Bridge, where the drivers were very supportive. We handed out more that 500 fliers and 300 business cards. In attendance Robert Schlafke, Tony Spalding, Ira Teller, Clarence, Eric Yanwkitt.

Bridges for children national protest will be taking place across the US and many other countries! We may locate our Broward, Dade, and Palm Beach marches in front of the main counties courthouses, however information about doing so is slow to come since the 9/11 attacks. Update! I made this trip as well, along for the ride and excellent public testimony were Joe, Eric and Bob. I would like to thank the members from around the state for attending and speaking as well! The commission is still alive and receptive to what we had to say. The most important thing I believe that we need to do, as pointed out by the commission, is to help them educate, with facts, how much the children of separated parents stand to gain from equal parent access! If we can do this, then we will succeed in passing shared residential legislation!

Update! I made the trip to Tallahassee Yea!! (see car) The trip was successful. I meet up with Dads members David Ziskind, Nadine Ziskind, and her Daughter Lori. Also present was Carnel Smith and his wife and several other Paternity Fraud Members. We all spoke to the commission about custody and paternity, and the commission was very attentive and supportive to what they heard! Thanks to all that showed and those who supported us for the trip! (turnpike fees)

December 3rd the Florida fatherhood commission will be meeting with our legislators to propose changes to the statutes. We will be there as this committee is supporting our "equal parenting" legislation and will decide weather to back our paternity fraud legislation. I can not begin to stress the importance of our attendance on this date as we need to show and help support these important bills that ultimately benefit our children and put all parents on equal status.

Update! We did the donation on time. The staff at Joe DiMaggio and the children where very very thankful for our generous contributions. Articles have already been posted in some of the local papers. The sentential will run an interview in the Saturday 12-15-01 paper and another 12-20-01. Look for them.

Yes it is that time of year again! We need donations of unwrapped toys from you or your favorite toy store so that we can show a fathers support to the hospitalized children. All items will be donated to the children's ward of Joe DiMaggio Hospital. Jean, in our sales department is heading this up and you can contact her by e-mail info@dadsofflorida.org

Update! We Made a good showing for this public meeting. There were dads, and a mom, speaking about our issues from all over the state. Since the issues are about the same, I think that the commission is "getting the point". Judging by the legislative recommendations that CORF is making to our government, we have defiantly made a difference! Thanks Dads, lets keep up the positive progress!

Florida's Fatherhood Commission will be holding a public meeting in Tampa. Dads of Florida board members will be testifying at this meeting starting at 6 pm. Dads of Florida President Bob Schlaske has been invited to attend and input the Judicial Oversight Committees review of our child support guidelines. This will take place August 9th and 10th 2001. Bob will need your suggestions on how to improve the current guideline. Please e-mail them to info@dadsofflorida.org

A seminar explaining resent changes in Florida law that could effect the amount of child support payments will be held Aug.13 in Boca Raton. Family law attorney Steve Presso and Janan Moyer, a certified divorce planer, will discuss the implications of the state law that took affect June 5. The event is sponsored by the Divorced and Separated Help group. Any member of DADS that would like to attend please contact me at info@dadsofflorida.org

Florida’s Commission on Responsible Fatherhood

Update! Thing went well here! We were noticed and received well. A new coalition is forming with many of the other "fathers" groups across Florida. We have been invited to "sit" on a review board. We were invited to the Tampa symposium to provide input. We have been requested to review and make suggestions about CORF'S legislative plans. This is just the beginning! In attendance from our local group were Bob Schlaske, Nadine Ziskind, and Bob and Jean Bettellie.

CORF is holding the fifth Annual Governor’s Fatherhood Symposium. June 20-21, 2001, at the Rosen Center Hotel, Orlando, Florida. See press release for more details. Need a ride? Bob Schlaske will be driving his SUV and he has room for passengers. Contact us for arrangements via e-mail.

Update! We had lots of dads and family members show up, and some of my Racal friends and family. I received over 175 calls from people who wanted to attend. Thanks to all the Dads board members who put in community (two days of work) time at the park so this event could be free to all who attended, and thanks to the corporate donations from Publix, Winn Dixie, Albertson and the Home Decor store, this was a success!

This DADs Annual event takes place around Fathers day. The reason is for support of Fathers that do not spend time with their children on nationally recognized days! This will happen with your help. All are invited friends and family. If you have any ideas, food, etc. please e-mail your ideas to me.

National Fathers Protest Tuesday June 5^th

Update! Due to the horrible weather, this was almost a total loss! We missed a perfect opportunity as EVERY TV station was there, since only two of us showed up, and our signs were destroyed after the downpour of rain, we had to hide from the cameras instead of "getting in front of them"! Fortunately Nadine had her DADs cards and she passed them out diligently.

We will be supporting this National event by joining in at the Broward County main Courthouse from 3pm till 5pm.

Please wear your shirt, and or button and bring your sign. We will meet on the north east corner of 3^rd Ave. and 6^th street.

Update! Well, this one did not "emerge" as planed. Due to a huge traffic accident on the I most of us were about two hours late. Not all was lost, David and Nadine Ziskind passed out DADs cards to the Palm Beach County sheriffs folks on duty and let them know why we were there, and that we would be back!

We will make our presence known at the Delray south County Courthouse 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM

It would have been nice if more DADs could have "made" the event so that we would not have gotten lost in the crowd, however I think that we made our message clear to the officials that were there! At the Broward County Courthouse at 4 P.M. We will be meeting at the NE corner of 3rd Ave. and SE 6th St.. The theme is Fathers and Children's broken Hearts, please make a sign and/or bring a candle if you can attend. We need a huge turnout for this as the media may be there! Most everyone is taking time off work for this. Let us GET THIS ONE DONE RIGHT! .
